PaintPlay is a new windows 8 metro app. The app saves your work and history even if you shutdown your computer.

How to start PaintPlay app

Just click on the app on the start screen to start PaintPlay app. If you do not see the app on the start screen, then search for it.

How to change background of PaintPlay app

The default background color of PaintPlay app is Cornsilk. You cannot change the background. There is no option to change background.

How to get options of PaintPlay app

Start the PaintPlay app and right click anywhere on the screen. At the bottom of the app you can see options for PaintPlay.

How to clear complete page of PaintPlay

Just click on the clear icon to clear complete screen of paintplay.

How to undo and redo in PaintPlay

To undo, just click undo icon. This will undo one step behind. You can undo to unlimited back steps.

You can also use keyboard shortcut CTRL + Z to undo.

For redo, there is no icon. But you can redo using keyboard shortcut CTRL + Y

How to select color in PlayPaint

You can select color from color ribbon. Right click anywhere on the screen to open options pane and then select color you wish.

How to save a PaintPlay image

There is no option in paintplay app to save a paintplay work. The only way I see to save a paintplay image is using print screen. Use print screen keyboard button to take screenshot and then paste it in normal MS Paint.

Types of PaintPlay brushes

Paint play has six types of brushes.

1. Marker: You can select brush size and transparency in this brush mode.
2. Brush: You can select end fade style and brush size.
3. Neon: You can select brush size and glow style.
4. 3D: You can select depth of border and brush size.
5. Crayon: You can select brush size and density.
6. Eraser: This is used to clear / erase. You can select eraser brush size.

When product key can be asked

• If for some reason, windows 8 installation was interrupted and you have to re-start installation process, you may be asked to enter the product key.
• If you want to reset your windows 8 using Refresh or Reset functionality, you may be asked to enter your product key.

• Make sure your windows 8 is properly installed and its files are not corrupted.
• For Metro Apps to work, the minimum screen resolution needs to be at least 1024 x 768. So, make sure you have minimum screen resolution.
• Your system should have enough free RAM / memory. A system with minimum 2GB RAM is recommended to run windows 8.
• You system should have a decent graphics card.
• Make sure you have latest graphics card driver installed. Try updating graphics card driver.
• System restart works sometime.
• If nothing works, you may need to refresh your windows 8.

If your system do not meet minimum system requirement to run windows 8 metro apps, you may see a black or green screen when running apps. The app may not also start or hang when you click on any apps.

After Developers preview, windows 8 beta will be released. It is expected that beta will be released around March 2012. The final version of windows 8 will be released after windows 8 beta.

The expiry date of windows 8 Developer Preview is 12 March 2012. After this date windows 8 Developer Preview wil not work.

How to create a Windows 8 Live ID account

• Go to Windows 8 start screen.
  
• Click on your user image and then click Add User
  
• If you want to use your existing Windows Live ID (email), then enter your live ID and click Next button.

Why there is no option to close an app / program in windows 8

Windows 8 is highly optimized to use less memory / RAM and CPU. Any inactive program / app is automatically suspended by windows 8 and thus save lot’s of system resources. You do not actually need to close any app / program because windows 8 will automatically suspend all inactive apps.

When you open a new app or switch to a new app, the system will automatically send old app to suspended state after 5 seconds.

In this way windows 8 save lots of system resources and make windows 8 lots faster and smoother.

How to close a Program / App in windows 8

Technically you do not need to close apps in windows 8. But if you still want to close running apps for some reason, you can close it from Windows Task Manager. Press SHIFT + CTRL + ESC button to start task manager and then you can close the apps. Select the app and press End Task button.

How to uninstall a Program / App in windows 8

• Go to windows 8 start screen / Metro style desktop.
• Take your mouse to bottom left hand corner to pop out Start Panel. Now click Search.
  
• This will open Search Apps windows and will list most commonly used apps. You can search for app which you want to uninstall if its not listed there.
  
• Right click the app icon which you want to uninstall. After right click, a check mark will appear on the icon.
  
• And at the bottom of the screen you will get option to Uninstall this app. Click on the Uninstall icon to uninstall this app.
